Standing committees
Where decisions are actually made
The board delegates to four standing committees, each with a published remit and a scholar from outside the institute among its members.
Research Ethics Committee
Reviews every study involving human participants before fieldwork begins, and can halt work already under way.
Editorial Board
Sets standards across all six journals, appoints reviewers, and rules on appeals against desk rejection. Operates independently of the governing board.
Programmes Committee
Designs the training curriculum, approves admissions criteria, and reviews teaching quality at the end of every cohort.
Partnerships Committee
Assesses proposed memoranda of understanding and reviews existing partnerships every two years against what they have actually produced.
